RAMSGATE BOOK & ART FESTIVAL – a Raging Success
A hearty and resounding BRAVO! to the wonderful mottled bunch of organizers and volunteers for putting together this fabulous annual event.
The overriding theme for Festival this year was “# Connecting” – and boy was there a great deal of exactly that going on. “The tireless plotting and planning for The Ramsgate Book & Art Festival, was worth every drop of blood sweat and tears!” is the general consensus from everybody who visited, sponsored, spoke at, worked and volunteered at the Festival.
The action took place along the main road of Ramsgate village itself. Galleries, restaurants, antique shops, courtyards, car parks and our beautiful Whale Deck overlooking the ocean were all ‘venues’ where amazing talks, shows and events unfolded.
The date has been set for 2019 so diarize now!
Thursday 9th August – Sunday the 11th August 2019
The core group of the Festival would like to say the following:
THANK YOU RAMSGATE!!!!Well, the dust has settled, the organizing team has had a break and the post festival analysis is complete. What a fantastic success!
23 Authors giving us their personal stories
15 Artists sharing their works
30 Poets enthralling us with their poems
Opening of the New Eco Centre, Poetry by candlelight, Children’s Programme, Recycled Workshop, Supper Theatres, Pub Quiz, Win Walk, Street Market and an awesome Wine Down at Rocky Ridge.
We would like to thank each and every person who was involved directly or supported the festival by visiting which made it the huge success that it was. A special thanks to all the local businesses who got involved. From the feedback we received, the value added through the additional exposure was well worth it! The strength of our community was once again highlighted and shows what a bright future we can look forward to in this wonderful Village we call home.
The Feedback from all the visiting artists, authors, poets and out of town visitors has been exceptional and is really starting to put our little village onto the cultural map as well as promoting responsible eco-tourism and environmental awareness in our area.
Planning is already afoot for The Ramsgate Book & Art Festival, 08 – 11 August 2019.
We welcome all to get involved early and make sure that we continue to grow from strength to strength.
We look forward to seeing you next year!

Rocky Ridge – live music & gorgeous food
We are very spoilt to have Rocky Ridge on our doorstep. This is a nationally popular live music venue of note. An incredible array of music across all genres grace their multiple stages weekly.
Recently, Kalanit Broide and her team took over the kitchen and the menu is just gorgeous. Fresh, healthy, simple, extremely yummy and affordable meals are served. This is done with an unpretentious vibe yet delightfully classy presentation. Do yourself, your friends and your family a favour and go to this venue. You will be met with an incredible view, wonderful music and beautifully presented, good food. To get there, turn up Fascadale Road and once you hit the dirt road, travel 1.5km and Rocky Ridge is on your right.
